Wood Farm Cottages

Wood Farm Cottages, Edgefield, North Norfolk

Down a long quiet lane discover 8 self catering properties in the rural village of Edgefield. Our cottages are inspected each year by VISIT BRITAIN and have been awarded four stars overall (5 stars for cleanliness at 100% for the last 3 years).Family friendly holiday cottages in Norfolk

Our aim is to provide our guests with a magical holiday – the perfect base from which to explore the coast, broads and north Norfolk countryside in a spotlessly clean, well maintained and extremely well equipped cottage.

The cottages are individual but furnished in a similar style whilst retaining some of the original features of the old farm buildings such as exposed flint walls and old beams.

Each living area has comfortable sofas, easy chairs and a selection of paperback books. There are flat screen TV’s with digital channels, DVD players and wireless access points. All have board games and jigsaw puzzles. Kitchens have electric cookers, microwaves, dishwashers, fridge freezers, coffee makers and a very comprehensive range of good quality cooking and serving utensils.

Bathrooms have wash basins, toilets and full sized baths, all with powerful Aqualisa showers over the baths. Ash and Beech have ensuites too. Bedrooms are furnished with very comfortable beds with duvets. Oak, Ash, Beech, Elm and Chestnut have king sized beds, Holly has a 4 poster, and Willow and Rowan very comfortable doubles.

Outside is a fabulous large play area with climbing frame, swings, zip wire, tree house, trampoline with net, 5 - a - side goals, large slide, 1959 David Brown tractor, slackline, tyre snake and sand pit.

Inside there is a pool table, table tennis table and brand new San Siro table football; and badminton can be played in one of the barns – so loads and loads of safe space for children of all ages to flex their independent wings.

The following are included in the basic holiday charge:Lots of child friendly facilities

  • Bed Linen
  • Central Heating all year via our new biomass boilers
  • Electricity
  • Travel cots & high chairs, steps and bed guards, black out blinds
  • WiFi

Towels can be hired at £5.00 per person.

Well behaved dogs are welcome by prior arrangement only in all Cottages except Oak and Elm, and we ask that they do not go into bedrooms or onto furniture, and that they are under control at all times. Dogs are charged at £15 per dog per booking.

All Cottage interiors are No Smoking.

Year on year approximately 50% of our guests are repeats and we love seeing children as they grow up, often coming back to see the friends they have made the previous year! The play area is very sociable, where families can relax while their children are enjoying the freedom of Wood Farm (and many a competitive game of football has been played, Dads too ;)) but there is plenty of space to be a bit more private if wanted.

Prices range from £245 for a week in winter in our smallest cottage to £890 for a week in summer in our largest cottage

Short breaks are available from October through to the end of April; prices start from £190 for up to 3 nights.

The beautiful north Norfolk coast is a mere 15 minutes by car, the sandy beaches of Wells and Holkham (Shakespeare in Love) another 10 minutes. Why not visit the seals, take a boat from Morston to Blakeney point. Or childrens favorite pastimes of all – crabbing from Blakeney quay and messing around in the many rock pools to be found.

There are some beautiful National properties a short drive away, most notably Blicking Hall which dates from the 1600’s, and has fantastic grounds as well as the home itself.

The very family friendly Pigs pub (with superb outside and inside areas for children) only 10 minutes on foot.

The lovely Georgian town of Holt is only 4 minutes away by car and offers a wonderful selection of shops and restaurants. It has been said that you can buy anything you need in Holt, though I don’t know if this is completely true (there are no elephant shops ;) )

There is a bus service that stops in the village (rather irregular time table so a car is more or less essential) and the nearest train station is Sheringham, which is approximately 15 minutes away by car.
