Sporting activites for children Share

Sports Xtra is leading the way in children’s physical activity and sport with a fresh and innovative approach to weekly classes, extra-curricular clubs, holiday camps and parties.

For children aged 2-12 years, we offer inclusive, developmental multi-sports coaching (10 core sports – basketball, cricket, dodgeball, football, handball, hockey, rounders, rugby, tennis, volleyball), single sport programmes and exciting Xperiences, such as Spy, Detective and Adventure. We are passionate about inspiring children to be more active through these creative non-traditional routes as well as established ones.

Children are encouraged and supported in small groups through successful learning, confidence-building and a highly motivated coach to enjoy physical activity and sport via individual activities as well as those with a partner and in both small and larger teams. These practical and fun learning experiences provide the foundation for children to develop physically, socially and emotionally through the positive challenges and enjoyment of taking part.

Rewarded for enthusiasm, motivation, openness to new ideas, responsible participation, effective contribution and team spirit, children develop confidence, determination, supportive relationships and a lasting commitment to being active. And all in the name of fun!

Activities for disabled children Share

The first fully accessible training centre in Europe for disabled and non-disabled people.

Currently, around a third of our members are disabled, which compares with a national average of 2-3% in other sports centres.

We proactively encourage disabled people to join and take part in all activities by subsidising their membership and activity costs and offer a 25-metre swimming pool with wheelchair access, a fully Inclusive Fitness Initiative approved fitness studio, dance studio, Schwinn cycling studio, sports hall, café and memberships with no contract.

Aspire Leisure Centre has gained Quest (UK Quality Scheme for Sport and Leisure) registration as 'Excellent'. The good practice at the Aspire Leisure Centre inspired InstructAbility - a national project to train disabled people as fitness instructors.

Kidz Zone activities: Including badminton, multi-sports and swimming classes
Holiday Camps: Ofsted-registered activity camps during the school breaks for 5 – 14 yr olds
