We are a member of the Pony Club which is aimed specifically at non-owner riders. Children can work towards achievement badges and tests to C Standard which includes passing the Road Safety test.

The Mendip Riding School is set within 130 acres of rolling hills and woodland, the riding centre is truly an equestrians delight. It is BHS approved, we offer lessons for both adults and children. Our pony days give younger riders the chance to ride and learn to care for the pony.

Epona Trust is a non-profit making organisation that re-habilitates horses and ponies. Horses and ponies available for loan.

Children start riding from 5 years old with after school lessons at reduced rates.
Beginners start in small groups of 6 in the full size indoor school. They progress at their own pace with thorough but enjoyable instruction. Lessons are graded. During school holidays OCRS organises fun days and day courses. In the summer holidays we hold weekly courses which are very popular.
OCRS are a Pony Club Centre Member. Children riding with us can join the Pony Club and work through the badge and test system.

We have a huge range of activities and courses on offer so no matter if you’re looking for water sports (kayaking, raft building and wakeboarding…), adventure (climbing, quad biking, archery or wild survival…), team sports (such as football, volleyball and tennis) or being super creative (bracelet making, polish up your circus skills, learn new dance skills and choreography) there will always be loads for you to do! What’s more if you stay residentially there are loads of great evening activities on offer too such as talent shows, discos and campfires!

Group lessons, private tuition and beginner’s ‘Have-a-Go’ sessions are available, with the benefit of an indoor arena, two floodlit outdoor arenas and jumping facilities. Lessons on the cross-country jumping course are available to experienced riders.
There are plenty of opportunities for children to get involved and learn more about ponies. “Own a Pony” sessions for all ages are a popular school-holiday activity, and regular riders can become Stable Helpers, or even try out for the Lee Valley Pony Club team.
