Family-Friendly Glamping Holidays in the UK
The farm nestles under the Purbeck Hills within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and a walk through the farm fields and a climb up Nine Barrow Down lead to a spectacular view of Poole Harbour, the coast at Bournemouth, and on a clear day, the Isle of Wight.
Back down by the woods and the streams you’re more than welcome to watch our dairy herd being milked. We’re sure you’ll want to linger on our 156-acre dairy farm, as the woodland we are backed on to is perfect for adventurous play.
You’re welcome to watch our herd being milked and their calves being fed, as we love to pass on our knowledge of dairy farming. We run the farm with a little help from one of our daughters, Issy, who looks after our miniature ponies, a mother and daughter duo called Issy and Lana who are available for grooming sessions. They can’t wait to greet you.
We could well be Feather Down’s most ‘sporting’ farm – in the relaxed sense of the word of course! As well as pheasant, you’re guaranteed to see any one of our 70 fallow or red deer, making the farm an ideal safari spot. On the Farm Tour you’ll also encounter beef cattle, horses and Kerry Hill sheep.
*Upper Shadymoor is a natural water park, with a brook and 16 pools on our 200 acres. As well as wild swimming and messing about in boats, our water trampoline can be enjoyed under parental supervision – from the nearby hot tub if necessary! You can also fish trout here, and rods and the fly-casting expertise of our son Gregory are both available. (*Charges apply)
And if your holiday involves eating well, you’ll love our game-filled Farm Larder, which stocks our own venison, pigeon, pheasant, duck, rabbit, and Kevan’s ready-cooked meals. There’s also the renowned local gastronomic scene that includes Ludlow’s two Michelin-starred restaurants and gastropubs galore.
The invigorating sauna and hot tub of our Field Spa attract many group bookings as well as families to this stunning part of Cornwall and with beaches nearby and a microclimate that allows palm trees to grow, nature has truly looked kindly on this part of the world. The active can surf, swim, bike and walk to their heart’s delight, before stocking up on Cornwall’s seafood, cream teas and pasties.
Back at the farm, indulge in Maddy’s delicious dinners, including her Cornish lasagne around the campfire, which one guest said was so good it should be mentioned in the guidebooks!
At Hollows Farm we have three yurts and the bell tent and there are two yurts at Seatoller Farm campsite. Both are in Borrowdale, no more than 15min drive from Keswick, which is surrounded, by magnificent mountains and close to the shores of Derwent Water.
