Another Place, The Lake A new hotel on the shores of Ullswater in the Lake District.

Opening in August, Another Place, The Lake will reflect its distinct Lake District location and takes inspiration from the Cumbrian surroundings. On the shores of Ullswater, the second largest – and for many the most beautiful – lake in England, the 18th century building is being transformed to 40-bedroom hotel with a number of family suites and dog-friendly rooms, as well as fresh, contemporary spaces with views over Ullswater and the fells beyond.

Set in 18 acres of secluded, unspoilt parkland, open-water swimming, sailing, stand-up paddle boarding, cycling, walking, even skiing, allow you to explore the stunning location. In Swim Club, you’ll find a warm 20-metre indoor pool and treatment rooms, while gathering spaces are woven throughout the hotel and grounds. The Kids Zone will give children the chance to explore, try new sports and make new friends.

Good food is at its heart with two restaurants making the most of Cumbria’s outstanding produce, as well as their own vegetable patch and herb garden.

Low Wood Bay has space for families to relax and unwind, with a choice of restaurants and bars, a Leisure Club, Beauty Salon and Water Sports Centre together with a superb lawned shoreline and one of the finest views across Lake Windermere. The hotel’s Langdale Lounge and Bar offer a chic interior that takes informal dining to refreshing heights, sleek and elegant and designed to impress. Imagine a place that has all this and welcomes children of all ages.

Low Wood Bay Water Sports Centre has plenty to offer, from sailing lessons for adults and children, plus wakeboarding, waterskiing, canoe and motorboat hire.

We have a club to join called Sam’s Club. Sam is a big cuddly dog who has entertained children of all ages at English Lakes Hotels for many years. Every child receives a goody bag when they arrive and can choose from Sam’s special menus in the restaurants.

If they like to swim, they can join in with children’s Splash Time at the Leisure Club’s large feature pool, where regular splash times take place.

In addition to all of this, Low Wood Bay is surrounded by plenty of things to entertain, including, The World of Beatrix Potter. Brockhole Visitor Centre has a great activity play area and Windermere Lake Cruises offer the perfect way to see the lake and its surroundings on an historic steamer, or make the most of the timeless landscape with some of the best walks in the country on the doorstep for all ages!

The Wild Boar is a special venue for many an occasion, whether that be an adventurous break, a family holiday, or spending quality time with the kids.

After undergoing an extensive refurbishment the The Wild Boar now offers individually designed rooms with some different features such as log fires and iPod docking stations, and still continues to provide the same quality guest experience for which it has built a fine reputation.

Children of all ages are particularly welcome at The Wild Boar, with a range of activities right on our doorstep. The Wild Boar’s 72 acres of private woodland are perfect for anything from a gentle stroll to adventure trails, and also offer a range of organised activities, such as archery and clay pigeon shooting for older children and adults.
