Dance classes and events in Herefordshire and Worcestershire

Dancefest is the dance development organisation for Herefordshire and Worcestershire, and runs a vibrant year round programme.

Dancefest runs classes and workshops for all ages, for both experienced dancers and people who have never danced before, across the West Midlands.

They include Contemporary, Choreography, Street, Breakdance, Mini Movers, Dance Clubs and Youth Dance. Participants get the opportunity to perform both informally and in the annual showcase.

Dancefest offers extensive education work in schools and colleges, and also coordinates Worcestershire Dance Teachers, to provide networking, support and CPD opportunities for teachers, dance workers and students working with all Key Stages and in Higher Education.

Dancefest leads many projects each year. These vary in size and scale, from one off workshops to site specific performances.

Work is undertaken for community groups, including organisations working with the elderly, disabled people and young people, and it also provides performance and participation opportunities and information for young dancers and choreographers.

Dancefest also designs and manages its own projects, which include Jigsaw, an annual integrated performance project involving disabled and non-disabled performers, the creation of dance films and site-specific work.

Dancefest leads Worcestershire Dance Promoters, which brings together the county’s venues to work on audience development, programming and participation.

Jigsaw was established in 1995 by two actresses with a passion for passing on their love of everything performing arts. The belief in the benefits of performing arts activities for children was the driving force in the creation of Jigsaw and the reason why Jigsaw has continued to grow and become a well established and high quality provider of children’s classes.

Every student can benefit, in some way, from the performing arts. While some join us to build a firm foundation for a professional performance career, others do so to unlock their hidden talents, overcome their shyness or increase their confidence and social skills. However, what all students enjoy is having fun through drama, singing and dance classes, while making lots of new friends.

Children ages 3-6 years attend a 90-minute session divided into three sections of dance, drama and singing. Whilst the students aged 7-18 years attend a three-hour session comprising of an hour of drama, an hour of singing and an hour of dance, each with a specialist tutor. To establish an environment that builds confidence, regardless of individual ability, students are divided into appropriate age bands. All students will be challenged to their full potential.

Fees: 3-6 years £150 per term, 7-18 years £280. Sibling discounts apply and you can pay monthly on direct debit.

If you’ve not been involved in anything like the performing arts before, we offer a two-week trial to all new students. So come along and see for yourself. Jigsaw ciurrently run classes throughout London and the South east. Visit our website below to find your nearest school.

Do you need a more interesting party activity for your child? Nugent Education can help. We’ve had great success in providing new, interesting and entertaining activities that most organisations don’t offer.

We can make a party, something to remember, and entertain and engage the children for an hour or two. This takes allot of strain off the parents, and children can chose something they and their friends will enjoy together and remember.

For young children, DBS checked artists provide things like crafts (puppet making, mask making, lantern making etc), Japanese origami (very popular), African drumming and dance.

For teenagers’, we have lots of terrific party ideas like makeup and beauty for teenage girls. Also popular urban arts such as street dance, break dancing and Rapping and Human Beat boxing (***), graffiti art, Japanese manga art or DJ-ing skills.

We also provide special graffiti art activities including commissions where create a bespoke mural for a child’s bedroom, a garage, shed or play room and so on.

Our artists / entertainers will travel to, and deliver at your venue (home address or a room booked etc).

Activities are great value for money and usually last 1 ½ to 2hrs. They are competitively priced from only £160.00 so why not give us a go?

The Allenova school has been established for over 28 years and in that time it has grown in strength and reputation. The school offers all the usual dance styles of Ballet, Tap, Modern and Musical theatre as well as Hip Hop. We cater for tiny little ones from the age of 2 1/2 who are nurtured through their first steps right through to Adults and Advanced 2 level in ISTD (Imperial Society of teachers of Dancing) & RAD (Royal Academy of Dance).

Our examination results are amazing with very high marks achieved in RAD, NATD and ISTD examinations. Many of our pupils go on to win medals in festivals, Competitions and All England Dance. Allenova pupils are always successful in auditions for various professional pantomimes such as The Reading Hexagon and The Newbury Corn Exchange.

We run classes in the Reading area and local venues in Tilehurst, Caversham and Earley. We have our own studio facility in Newbury Town Centre and the main studios in Thatcham. We also run a popular summer school. All our own studios are fully equipped with barres and mirrors.

We aim to give every child a chance to shine and develop their love of dance through careful training which is also fun and full of opportunities.

Anna Fiorentini Theatre and Film School educate and guide students through drama/film, dance and singing classes. Our organisation opened in 2001 as a Prince's Trust Business and has a growing reputation within the performing arts industry.

With drama schools situated in North London, Hackney, the Docklands and Bethnal Green, we put students into classes according to their age and follow a timetable where they get to explore a range of performing arts and help ensure they become an all round performer.
